On Thursday, 19 November 2009, we will celebrate the exciting night, marking the beginning of an annual showcase, with a Private Viewing from 6.00PM to 8.30PM and an interactive performing arts piece at 7.30PM.

As China moves from "Made in China" to "Created in China", and as the world recognises the appetite and scale of the market in China for designed and other creative goods, this unparalled opportunity has arisen to see the best young Chinese talents in art and design.

Cheers :) is a unique umbrella for emerging Chinese creative energy actively engaged in London art and design scenes. The brand name of Cheers :) represents “Ch”(Chinese) + “ers”(artists and designers). It also demonstrates the positive attitude of those young creators. :) is a symbol of their way of thinking and communication.

In recent years, an increasing number of young Chinese graduates from leading arts university in the UK have chosen to work in the UK. Having spent their formative years in China and the UK, they are influenced by western artistic vision and practice while reconnecting to their mixed Chinese-British identity. Some other graduates have chosen to returnto China, flourishing in their chosen fields. Cheers :) aims to explore the refreshing artistic impact of China-UK cross-cultural experience on these artists and designers. Therefore, Cheers :) intends to showcase works that represent important trends, ideas and subjects in this hybrid group of young talents, as a way to elucidate their uniqueness.

Over 70 exhibited works were carefully selected to represent the best across multiple disciplines: fine art, fashion design, spatial design, multimedia art, graphic design, product design and photography. Noted participants include architect Tie Fan, Associate Partner at Foster + Parters, visual artist and awarding-winning animator EB Hu, formerly at BBC Film Network, Zack Zhang, one of the most desirable fashion photographers in China, with commissions for VOGUE, Harper's Bazaar, Louise Vuitton, and Guocheng Chen, well-established London-based painter.

Experts, critics, practitioners in art and design fields will be present on the night.
